Controller

About the Role

RSK is seeking a highly experienced, detail-oriented Controller to oversee accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and transaction management for the organization and certain affiliated entities. This role is ideal for someone who is extremely well versed in accounting principles, highly proficient in QuickBooks Online, and comfortable managing a high volume of financial transactions with accuracy and efficiency.

The Controller will play a key role in maintaining clean financial records, producing timely reports, supporting management decision-making, and helping ensure strong financial controls across the organization. In addition to accounting and finance responsibilities, this individual will also assist with HR administration, employee benefits, and related organizational support functions.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Management

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and month-end close.
  • Manage a high volume of financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and optimize accounting systems, with a strong emphasis on QuickBooks Online.
  • Prepare financial statements, internal reports, cash flow reports, and management dashboards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and account reviews.
  • Monitor cash balances, payables, receivables, and other key financial metrics.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, banks, and other financial partners as needed.

Affiliated Entity Support

  • Provide controller and bookkeeping services to select affiliated entities.
  • Maintain separate books, records, reconciliations, and reporting for multiple entities.
  • Track intercompany transactions and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist with entity-level financial reporting, compliance, and administrative needs.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Help ensure compliance with applicable Puerto Rico and federal tax, payroll, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Support preparation of tax filings, payroll reports, annual reports, and other regulatory submissions in coordination with outside professionals.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation for audits, tax filings, and internal review.

HR, Payroll & Benefits Support

  • Assist with HR administration, including onboarding, employee records, and internal processes.
  • Support payroll processing and coordination with payroll providers.
  • Help administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, PTO tracking, and related employee communications.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all HR and benefits-related matters.
  • Coordinate with benefits brokers, payroll providers, and outside HR advisors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong accounting background with significant experience in bookkeeping, controller-level work, or financial management.
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online is required.
  • Experience managing high-volume transaction environments.
  • Ability to manage books for multiple entities or affiliated organizations.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with payroll, HR administration, and employee benefits is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with management, employees, outside accountants, banks, vendors, and advisors.
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity.

Preferred Experience

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Puerto Rico payroll, tax, and employment-related compliance.
  • Experience working with affiliated entities, real estate entities, investment entities, or closely held companies.
  • Familiarity with payroll platforms, benefits administration systems, and expense management tools.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
