Overview

Sloan & Company, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. Reporting to the VP of Accounting & Finance, the Controller will play a key role in developing and implementing financial policies, managing accounting functions, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our business goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee all accounting operations including Payroll, Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

- Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights and analysis to support business planning and decision-making.

- Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying and explaining variances.

- Provide financial projections and analysis for strategic initiatives and operational improvements.

- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and ensure timely and accurate completion of audits.

- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial and tax reporting requirements.

- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.

- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, and business development opportunities.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive business performance and growth.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of accounting and financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a construction related financial management role.

- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and construction financial principles.

- Proficiency in accounting software, MS Office Suite, and Excel.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high levels of accuracy.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.

- Ability to lead and develop a team, and to work collaboratively with other departments.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
