Controller (Client-Facing, Remote – Guaranteed 40 Hours per week)

About the Role

Ledger Labs is hiring a Controller to take immediate ownership of a portfolio of client accounts. This role is designed for an experienced, client-facing Controller who can operate independently, make judgment calls, and reduce delivery risk from day one.

This is not a training role and not a busy-season grind. It is a stable, full-time position with a predictable workload and clear expectations.

What You’ll Do

• Own end-to-end financial oversight for a portfolio of clients
• Review monthly closes, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant financials
• Serve as the primary client-facing accounting lead
• Identify issues, recommend solutions, and maintain quality standards
• Coordinate with bookkeeping and offshore support teams
• Ensure deadlines, accuracy, and client communication are met

What You Won’t Do

• Work more than ~40 hours per week
• Be on call at all hours
• Clean up disorganized books without support
• Get buried in repetitive busywork

Experience & Profile

• Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience
• Prior public accounting experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge and review experience
• Confident communicating directly with clients
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Based in EST or CST

Compensation & Structure

• $45-$50 per hour, paid bi-weekly
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week
• Remote
• 1099 position to start, within 6 to 12 months of initial hire, the candidate will be eligible for evaluation for W-2 position
• No benefits to start (offset by flexibility, stability, and capped workload)
