We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead the financial operations of Monrovia Memorial Hospital, a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital. Responsibilities
- Manage the full spectrum of accounting activities including general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and adherence to organizational policies.
- Prepare and review regulatory reports, financial statements, and management reports that accurately reflect the hospital’s financial position.
- Conduct cash management activities, including forecasting cash flow needs and optimizing liquidity to support operational requirements.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, account analysis, and technical accounting adjustments.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate smooth audit processes.
- Utilize accounting software platforms to streamline financial operations and improve reporting efficiency.
- Support budgeting processes by analyzing variances, forecasting future financial performance, and providing insights for strategic planning.
- Maintain rigorous internal controls to safeguard hospital assets and ensure compliance with governmental regulations specific to non-profit healthcare organizations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, or healthcare finance environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, compliance standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, debits & credits, and general ledger management.
- Proficiency with accounting software and experience with financial management tools are essential.
- Excellent financial analysis skills coupled with the ability to prepare clear and comprehensive financial reports.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable functions along with payroll processing within a hospital setting.
- Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation accurately while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of cash management strategies, forecasting techniques, and budget development processes.
