Controller / Head of Finance

Summary:

Mid-Atlantic Energy Services is seeking a hands-on finance and accounting leader to oversee day-to-day financial operations, strengthen internal financial infrastructure, and improve financial visibility across multiple operating entities.

This role is intended for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys operational involvement, process improvement, and building reporting visibility—not someone focused solely on transactional accounting. The right candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-moving, asset-heavy environment where financial systems, reporting structure, and operational visibility continue to evolve alongside the business. The ideal candidate will naturally look for opportunities to improve reporting clarity, operational visibility, and financial processes as the company continues to grow.

This position will work closely with ownership and operations leadership to improve reporting, inform pricing considerations, support decision-making, and establish scalable financial processes across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

1.     Financial Operations

• Own monthly close process
• Manage cash flow, AR/AP, and working capital
• Oversee intercompany accounting

2.     Financial Infrastructure

• Build and maintain service line profitability reporting
• Implement job-level costing
• Develop rolling cash flow forecasting and reporting processes (13-week, 26-week, and annual)
• Establish a bank-ready financial reporting package

3.     Financial Analysis & Operational Support

• Support ownership and operations leadership with financial analysis related to:

o  Equipment purchases

o  Capital planning

o  Utilization and profitability trends

• Develop practical financial models to support operational and investment decisions
• Improve visibility into:

o  Service line profitability

o  Equipment utilization

o  Job-level performance

• Assist with lender reporting and external financial information requests

4.     Required Experience

• Progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations roles
• Experience in industrial services, construction, oilfield services, manufacturing, or similarly operational industries preferred
• Experience improving or building financial reporting processes and operational visibility
• Experience working within multi-entity or operationally complex organizations preferred

5.     Required Capabilities

• Ability to translate operational activity into meaningful financial reporting and analysis
• Comfortable communicating directly with operations leadership and ownership
• Strong financial modeling
• Strong organizational and process-management skills
• Deep understanding of:

o  Job costing

o  Utilization-based revenue

• Ability to operate in a multi-entity structure
• Comfortable working in an evolving environment where systems, reporting structures, and operational processes continue to mature.
