CONTROLLER

Company is seeking an individual with hands-on experience and knowledge in manufacturing accounting and financial reporting systems. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will manage the accounting staff, prepare financial statements, and support annual audits. The position reports to a CFO is likely to retire within a few years, leaving a possible opportunity for further growth with the company for the right candidate.

Primary Function of this role:

· Provide comprehensive monthly and annual financial statements, sub-analytical spreadsheets and other data necessary for managers to make decisions based on accurate, consistent, data, including monthly and annual reports as needed for various government agencies.

· Lead the accounting department members as they provide data input and accounting support in traditional Cash, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Payroll systems and functions.

· Prepare annual accrual and cash flow budgets and monthly projections.

· Help develop and support short- and long-term operation strategies in a continuously improving environment

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

· Monthly and annual financial statements, budgets and projections for internal use, banks, government agencies, inventors and regulatory agencies such as the SEC.

· Follow current accounting policies and procedures and, on an as-needed basis, recommend amendments to policies and procedures and document them appropriately.

· Prepare data and documentation for tax preparers and external auditors.

· Enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures and workflows.

· Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.

· Analyze systems and recommend improvements through automation, AI and other features that will improve accuracy and efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Experience preparing NetSuite or QuickBooks Desktop financial statements and journal entries in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent financial reporting software systems.

· Experience in ERP systems

· Knowledge of, and experience in, traditional Cash, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Payroll systems and functions

· Three or more years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

· Three or more years in position of Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Public Accountant in manufacturing, or similar experience

· Strong understanding of GAAP and GAAS.

· Working knowledge of federal and state tax regulations

Preferred skills and qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in accounting, or related field

· Certified Public Accountant or equivalent

· Experience in metals foundry, extrusion, or machine shop facility

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Controller manages all employees of the accounting department and is responsible for performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be at the office during the core work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
