OPTIONS Family of Services, a local non-profit organization, strives to help people with intellectual disabilities meet their wants and desires as citizens within their community. We serve 200 people from Paso Robles to Santa Maria. Daily, we improve the lives of those we serve.

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller/CFO to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting practices. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of financial management, including compliance with regulatory standards, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting principles, non-profit accounting, and experience with various financial software systems. As a key member of our leadership team, you will manage cash flow and uphold transparency in all financial activities to support our organizational mission and growth.

Duties

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Manage annual audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
  • Lead regulatory reporting efforts for government agencies
  • Ensure timely filing of regulatory reports
  • Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure efficient workflow and professional development
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and other critical financial processes using Sage Accounting Software.
  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and compliance with internal policies.
  • Ensure accurate technical accounting practices related to nonprofit operations, governmental grants, and public accounting standards.
  • Perform detailed account analysis and general ledger reconciliation regularly to uphold financial accuracy.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive financial reports and writing clear financial reports for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
  • Proven ability to manage both high-level strategy and detailed financial operations
  • Proven expertise in financial management software such as Sage, payroll software or similar tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with technical accounting issues and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Excellent skills in account reconciliation, financial analysis and reporting, and account analysis.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing procedures and internal control frameworks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
