About the Role

The Controls Engineer IV leads our largest and most complex controls engineering projects in the material handling industry and others. Regular tasks include electrical design, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, and on-site commissioning. In this role, you will lead the technical efforts on a project. This includes planning engineering work to meet milestones, delegating work to other engineers, verifying work completed by others, and completing the engineering work yourself. In this role, you will…

  • Be the technical leader on large and complex controls projects and work directly with the Spring Project Manager.
  • Lead project teams in engineering by planning, delegating, and verifying their work.
  • Lead creation of device layouts and design electrical control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Lead PLC development using Rockwell software.
  • Lead development of HMI or SCADA applications using various software.
  • Functionally test control systems on-site and development on-site execution plan.
  • Schedule project milestones and plan weekly sprints.
  • Delegate, verify and approve work pertaining to your projects.
  • Communicate project status and updates to Spring and other external personnel with minimal supervision.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience working in controls or the material handling industry.
  • The ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation and computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent resource management, delegation, scheduling and planning skills.
