The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents, following dietary guidelines, menus, and special dietary needs. This role ensures food quality, safety, and presentation while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, dietary specifications, and resident preferences.

  • Assist with menu planning, recipe preparation, and portion control.

  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Accommodate residents’ special dietary needs, allergies, and texture modifications as instructed by dietary staff or healthcare professionals.

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including utensils, equipment, and food storage areas.

  • Collaborate with dietary team members to ensure timely and accurate meal service.

  • Monitor inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize food waste.

  • Follow all safety and infection control protocols in food preparation and service.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous experience in institutional cooking, healthcare, or food service preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.

  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and dietary guidelines accurately.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
