Job Summary
We’re looking for a dependable, caring Cook to join our childcare team at Over the Moon Childcare Center. The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children according to established menus and dietary guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation:
• Prepare and cook meals as outlined on the weekly menu plan.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and appropriately portioned for children.
• Prepare snacks for later in the day for snack time at 3 pm.
• Kitchen Maintenance:
• Wash dishes after breakfast and lunch.
• Keep kitchen counters, floors, carts, and appliances clean and sanitized at all times.
• Follow proper food safety protocols, including food storage and handling.
• Temperature Logging:
• Log the temperature of the freezer and refrigerator twice daily to ensure food safety.
• Food Delivery:
• Deliver meals to the individual classrooms.
• Retrieve dirty dishes from the classrooms after meals for washing.
• Laundry Assistance:
• Assist with laundry throughout the morning, including towels, rags, blankets, mop heads, and sheets.
• Other Duties:
• Assist with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director or Owner.
• Help maintain a safe and positive environment for children and staff.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous cooking or kitchen experience preferred, especially in a childcare or educational setting.
• Food Handlers Certification.
• Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a busy kitchen environment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Compassion and patience when interacting with children.
• Must be able to pass 2 comprehensive background checks as required by the state of Missouri for childcare workers.
• Must complete 12 hours of state approved clock hour training per year.

Schedule:

• 6:30 am – 1pm, Monday through Friday.
• Occasional flexibility required to accommodate specific needs or events.

Pay: $15.00 per hour
