Starting Pay: $18.00+ per hour, depending on experience
Shift: Monday to Friday, 6 am to 3 pm
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Daycare Chef to join our team. This position is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals and snacks that meet USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and nutrition. The ideal candidate enjoys cooking, works well independently, and is committed to providing quality meals for children.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training (or ability to obtain)
- Current TB Test (or ability to obtain)
- Portable MERIT Background Check (or ability to obtain)
- Previous cooking, food service, or kitchen experience
- Previous experience with working with children
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with USDA/CACFP guidelines
- Plan menus that meet nutritional requirements and program standards
- Follow Washington State food safety and sanitation regulations
- Maintain accurate food program records and documentation
- Monitor food inventory and kitchen supplies and assist with ordering within budget guidelines
- Maintain current allergy and dietary restriction information and ensure appropriate meal substitutions are provided
- Keep the kitchen clean, sanitary, organized, and inspection-ready at all times
- Manage daily kitchen operations efficiently and complete tasks on schedule
- Work collaboratively with management and classroom staff to support center operations
- Assist with the supervision of children when needed
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds as required
