Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Cook / Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. In this pivotal role, you will assist in preparing high-quality meals, ensuring food safety standards are met, and supporting the Culinary Director in daily kitchen operations. Your passion for food, exceptional knife skills, and experience in senior living will contribute to delivering memorable dining experiences for our residents.

Duties

  • Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes with precision and creativity, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Support menu planning efforts by contributing ideas and ensuring ingredient availability for daily specials and seasonal offerings
  • Maintain high standards of food handling, safety, and sanitation in compliance with health regulations
  • Execute food preparation tasks efficiently, including chopping, marinating, portioning, and plating meals
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy hours while maintaining quality control
  • Help oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the head chef, including supervising junior staff and managing inventory levels
  • Contribute to catering events and special functions by preparing large quantities of food with attention to detail and consistency

Experience

  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices
  • Experience working within dietary departments or providing dietary accommodations is highly desirable
  • Prior dietary aide experience or familiarity with meal planning for special dietary needs is a plus
  • Skilled in knife handling, meal preparation, and food service operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
  • Knowledge of the food industry trends, catering logistics, and serving protocols is advantageous
