Cook/Chef

Tuscarora seeks to hire a full time seasonal food service worker with cooking experience. This position is currently seasonal through the months of April - September. There is oppotunity for this seasonal position to turn into a year long full time position.

Organizational Overview:

Tuscarora’s mission is to serve the Christian community by providing programs and facilities for worship, teaching, counseling, and physical refreshment, focusing on the Bible as our standard for living.

Position Purpose:

To assist the Food Services Manager in the operation of the kitchen. They are responsible for the preparation and serving of meal and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.

Requirements:

1. Must have either a food service related degree and one year of related experience, or three years of related experience

2. Experience in either management or supervisory roles

3. Experience in Christian camping or ministry preferred

4. ServSafe certification or equivalent

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and serve quality meals for guests and staff. Staff included when guests are present and each day for lunch.

2. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, including basement, hall, stairs and loading dock.

3. Ensure proper receipt of provisions including the timely and proper storage of supplies.

4. Decrease food costs through careful preparation and waste reduction.

5. Train and supervise all kitchen workers in the absence of the Food Services Manager, including safety and sanitary procedures.

6. In the absence of the Food Services Manager, coordinate each meal with the Dining Room Host/Hostess.

7. Attend weekly staff meetings and staff chapel.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
