Cooler/Warehouse Team Member

Job Summary

1836 Farms is a family-owned and operated dairy processing and distribution facility. The 1836 Farms family has a long and storied history of dairy farming starting with their great grandpa over 100 years ago in Switzerland. We have experience in bottling milk the old school way with old school practices using today’s technology. We also believe that milk in glass bottles is the healthiest and most ecological choice to maintain and sustain our environment, not only here in Texas, but across the U.S. 1836 Farms operates in a 39,500 square foot facility located just outside of Dallas in Terrell, TX. The Warehouse/Cooler Member will be responsible for daily organization, preparation, and execution of orders. The Warehouse/Cooler Member will also be required to efficiently and safely use equipment to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, trucks or storage facilities. Work as individual contributor but also as a team to meet clean up and quality standards to minimize production downtime.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily equipment inspection (pallet jacks)
• Understand proper cleaning of work area
• Understand the proper storage of product and the different locations for each product
• Participate in the receiving, unloading and inspection of shipments for damage and conformity to purchase order specifications and packing slips
• Report any shortages or damages of items received to the Warehouse Supervisor
• Fill, prioritize and process sales orders
• Monitor product stock levels
• Participate in the performance of physical inventory
• Prepare necessary items for bottling operations
• Proper disposal of bad product
• Operate a variety of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks and dollies
• Maintain the cooler and warehouse in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition
• Communicate effectively with other employees, supervisors and visitors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 6 months related experience in food manufacturing, preferred
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and write in English
• Ability to stand for a majority of the day
• Ability to lift heavy objects on a regular basis (40lbs-50lbs).
• Self-motivated, shows initiative, and demonstrates the skill in multi-tasking
• Ability to work longer than normal shifts as needed
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and background screenings

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a cold environment (34 degrees) as well as in a non-temperature controlled environment and outside, possibly all in the same day.

Ability to sit, stand, reach, stoop, pivot turn and bend while performing tasks. Must be able to lift, push and or carry up 50 pounds. Stand for long periods of time and do repetitive tasks with few breaks.

Facility may incur temperature variation and other hazards as incurred in the food manufacturing and packaging process. May be exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment.

Requires wearing company uniform, with company provided hairnet/beard net/safety glasses when in production, warehouse, cooler and maintenance areas. Must maintain proper GMP and Food Safety practices.
