The Development & Marketing Coordinator executes approved communications and development activities that advance Goodwill’s mission. The role builds and sends newsletters and email journeys for external, internal, and donor audiences; produces simple, on-brand materials using Canva or comparable design tools; maintains accurate audience data and segmentation in the CRM; manages key contact lists (community partners, media, stakeholders); supports event communications; and maintains donor and gift processing. Emphasis is on accuracy, timeliness, organization, and clean handoffs.
Email & Newsletters

Build, QA, and send newsletters and updates in MailChimp (or similar) for external, internal, and donor audiences.

Execute assigned automated drip campaigns (e.g., welcome, event follow-up, donor stewardship).

Maintain templates; ensure links/UTMs and accessibility standards; provide basic performance snapshots.

Design surveys and customer feedback forms as requested.
Design & Content Execution

Create clean, brand-accurate flyers, one-pagers, and email graphics in collaboration with the graphic designer using Canva or comparable design tools.
- Prepare the email newsletter design and materials in collaboration with the graphic designer.
- Design targeted email journeys and messaging templates for each donor and customer segment.
Calendar, Workflow & QA

Maintain the approved communications calendar; route proofs; track approvals and deadlines.

Document conversions and consistently store final assets.
CRM & Audience Segmentation

Maintain accurate records (de-dupe, standardize fields, apply tags).

Build and refresh segmented lists for donors, partners, media, ambassadors, and events.

Manage opt-ins/opt-outs and suppression lists in compliance with policy.

Manage gifts processing and reconciliation in collaboration with the direct supervisor and finance.
- Manage in-kind donation pickup exports and imports into the donor management CRM.
Community & Media Directories

Build and maintain a living directory of community partners (businesses, nonprofits, schools, faith/civic groups) with key contacts and notes.

Keep media and stakeholder lists current and coordinate press distribution with the Communications Director.
Event Support

Pull invite lists and manage RSVPs; schedule approved emails and social posts in collaboration with the Digital Media Manager.

Prepare day-of materials (signage, run-of-show communications) and send post-event follow-ups and surveys.
Basic Reporting

Deliver a monthly snapshot of list growth, deliverability, open/click rates, and key observations.
- Provide data exports and segmentation as requested.

Produced monthly reports tracking fundraising revenue and donor acquisition trends.

Analyzed and presented monthly metrics on giving totals and donor base growth.

Generated monthly performance dashboards highlighting revenue and donor engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related).

2–4 years of professional experience in nonprofit development, marketing/communications, or related operations.

Demonstrated proficiency with email platforms (MailChimp Preferred) and design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar), including basic automation/drip setup.

Hands-on experience with a donor CRM (Salesforce/Neon/Virtuous or similar), CSV handling, and de-duplication workflows.

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills; meticulous attention to detail.

Solid organization and time management; ability to execute multiple projects on deadline.

Familiarity with project tools (Monday/Asana/Trello).
