Job Duties

Provide agency support in the development and management of digital collections and digital engagement projects using associated processes and protocols to help the Library of Virginia accomplish its mission, achieve strategic goals, and meet the needs of staff and patrons and other constituent groups.

To work with agency staff and external audiences to develop, maintain and promote the Library’s VA250 funded project “Ideas in Action: Virginians petition their government, 1776-1786”.

  • PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A RESTRICTED FULL-TIME POSITION. THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED RESTRICTED POSITION WITH A THREE-YEAR TIMEFRAME.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of archival and library standards, practices, and procedures and of digital access systems;
  • Knowledge of metadata standards, data management, text and image management and conversion tools, and descriptive practices;
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge in the areas of public engagement, digital humanities, and crowdsourcing projects;
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in one-on-one and group settings; to develop and organize streamlined workflows and create related documentation; and,
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise a high-level of independence, decisiveness, leadership and consensus-building.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully launch new technology-based programs for community engagement.
  • Knowledge of programs assessment.

Additional Considerations

  • Formal training or work experience in digital collection development and management, web content creation, and library/archives services preferred.
