Job Responsibilities:
The Coordinator, School Library Services plans, organizes, and evaluates the integration of technology into the library/instructional program of a building or district. Library automation systems continue to evolve from single site tools for the management of in-house resources to instructional access umbrellas offering pathways to information located virtually anywhere via the internet. Through the creation of customized library staff development and information access services, a coordinator indirectly impacts the daily learning of a school's students, teachers, staff and administrators. These professional responsibilities require independent, "on the spot" judgment, knowledge of the ever-changing technologies and a solid understanding of the unique role the school library media specialist plays in the implementation of the NYS Learning Standards and New York State Common Core Learning Standards.
With the increase in numbers of participating schools, Civil Service Librarians have been added to our professional staff. The Library Services Coordinator is responsible for training Library Services staff members, establishing work priorities, and organizing the total service offered to our schools.
