Job Description:POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Academic Computing - Instructional Designer
DEPARTMENT: Online Learning
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River, MA
REPORTS TO: Director, Online Learning
POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC/MTA full-time, Grade 6, unit benefitted position, some nights and weekends required.
PAY RATE: $76,153 - $90,535 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Coordinator of Academic Computing - Instructional Designer is responsible for, but not limited to, exploring, developing, and supporting online and face-to-face instructional solutions that promote student learning and faculty instruction with a particular emphasis on innovation and learning outcomes. The Instructional Designer will also provide hands-on assistance to faculty as they enhance their teaching skills, design online courses, and integrate technology effectively into instruction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist faculty in designing and developing engaging, interactive, and accessible online learning experiences that address diverse learning styles.

Identify and share best practices for applying learning theories and instructional technologies to curriculum design.

Develop and deliver professional development opportunities on online course design, assessment strategies, and digital accessibility.

Conduct course quality assurance reviews using the Quality Matters Higher Ed Rubric to ensure alignment with Bristol standards.

Research, write, and produce clear documentation, reports, and other instructional resources (websites, multimedia, and online tutorials) to support faculty and students.

Maintain current knowledge in online learning, instructional technology, digital accessibility, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, and FERPA regulations.

Plan and coordinate training programs in collaboration with the Bristol Online team and the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and partner with Access & Disability Services (ADS) to support equitable access and an inclusive learning environment.

Provide regular progress updates to key stakeholders on course development projects.

Participate in college committees as assigned.

Adhere to college and departmental policies and procedures throughout all job duties.

Deliver excellent customer service when working with faculty, staff, and students.

Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.

Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or closely related field.*

Minimum of five (5) years of experience applying research-based frameworks for online course design, outcome assessment, and student engagement strategies.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.

Demonstrated experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Working knowledge of integrating accessible streaming video and videoconferencing tools into online learning experiences.

Demonstrated experience with visual design and layout as it relates to pedagogy and instructional delivery.

Demonstrated experience developing training curriculum to enhance the capabilities of participants with a wide range of learning capacities.

Demonstrated experience in web development and multimedia recording, as well as editing skills and basic knowledge of online course development.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple levels of institution.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong project management skills.

Demonstrated commitment to customer service and team-oriented management.

The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Master's degree.

Degree in Instructional Design or Education.

Demonstrated experience in a higher education environment within an instructional design or instructional technology role.

Demonstrated working knowledge of Open Educational Resources (OERs).
-
College-level teaching experience demonstrating the use of educational technology, such as a learning management system.

Demonstrated experience with Canvas as a course designer.

Demonstrated experience with Quality Matters.

Demonstrated professional experience at a community college.
