PHP Developer (Core PHP & WordPress) – Roles & Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using Core PHP and WordPress
- Build dynamic, secure, and scalable web solutions based on business requirements
- Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet functional and design needs
- Integrate front-end elements with server-side logic
Core PHP Development
- Write clean, reusable, and efficient PHP code following coding standards
- Develop custom PHP modules, scripts, and APIs
- Handle database operations using MySQL (queries, joins, optimization)
- Implement form handling, validations, and session management
- Debug, test, and optimize existing PHP applications
WordPress Development
- Create and customize WordPress themes and plugins
- Develop custom post types, custom taxonomies, and custom fields
- Work with WordPress hooks, filters, shortcodes, and REST APIs
- Customize WooCommerce features, checkout flows, and payment integrations (if required)
Frontend & Integration
- Use HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX to build responsive user interfaces
- Convert designs (Figma / XD / PSD) into functional web pages
- Integrate third-party APIs (payment gateways, CRMs, marketing tools)
Performance, Security & SEO
- Optimize application performance and database queries
- Implement security best practices (input sanitization, authentication, authorization)
- Ensure SEO-friendly URLs and proper meta implementations in WordPress
- Improve site speed and Core Web Vitals compliance
Maintenance & Support
- Maintain, update, and monitor PHP and WordPress applications
- Fix bugs, security issues, and compatibility problems
- Manage backups, updates, and version upgrades
- Provide technical support and documentation when required
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with UI/UX designers, SEO teams, and project managers
- Understand client requirements and propose technical solutions
- Provide regular progress updates and maintain code documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in Core PHP
- Hands-on experience with WordPress
- Proficiency in MySQL / MariaDB
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
- Experience with REST APIs and AJAX
- Understanding of MVC concepts and basic design patterns
- Experience with Git/version control systems
Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in PHP & WordPress development
- Experience in agency or product-based environments
- Exposure to hosting environments (cPanel, AWS, VPS)
