Wellmark is seeking a Corporate Communications Manager to join our team and help tell our story to a variety of audiences, increasing awareness and understanding of how we are working to make health care better for Iowans and South Dakotans.
About the role: As part of Wellmark's Corporate Communications team, the Corporate Communications Manager – Strategic Initiatives will support creating and implementing communications strategies reaching internal and external audiences.
This includes providing strategic consultation to executive leaders and cross-functional teams to communicate initiatives with a consistent narrative across a variety of channels using a planful approach. You will be expected to help identify performance measures and optimize activations to achieve success, foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders as a strategic communications partner, and collaborate across the the organization to build and protect Wellmark’s reputation.
About You: Ideal candidates are exceptional storytellers who can craft content strategies to motivate audiences to take action. You are a natural collaborator and connector: you have a demonstrated history of building productive and meaningful relationships with people at all levels, from an internal peer to a senior leader to a media representative. You have a deep understanding of the methods of measurement and how metrics can be used to shape a story and drive change. Required:
Preferred:
7+ years of internal communications experience is preferred, including serving as a partner for senior leadership.
a. Develop and refine communications strategies and tactics to drive awareness and engagement of key audiences.
b. Serve as a strategic consultant for leaders and cross-functional teams on how to best reach and engage employees to drive strategy-aligned behaviors as well as external audiences to drive business objectives.
c. Lead relationships with strategy owner stakeholders, product owners and managers and additional leaders serving as a trusted strategic partner for corporate communications strategies and activations.
d. Think strategically and holistically to prioritize and connect initiatives and messages from across the organization using a planful, consistent approach.
e. Deliver clear, concise communications aligned with brand voice and AP style across communications mediums.
f. Manage and prioritize multiple initiatives to deliver high-quality work on deadline.
g. Set benchmarks and measure performance to continually improve.
h. Understand Wellmark’s products, services and business and be able to incorporate these into strategic communication plans.
i. Other duties as assigned.
