Corporate Payroll Manager

Job Title: Payroll Manager

Reports to: VP of Human Resources

Classification: Exempt

Location: Remote

Summary: The Payroll Manager provides leadership to the payroll team and is responsible for managing the payroll process to ensure all employees are paid timely and accurately. They are highly proficient specifically in California and Washington payroll guidelines as they relate to employment and labor law.

They will partner with Human Resources in payroll/compensation process improvements and pay policies and practices, manage physician compensation calculations, work with HR to ensure efficient processes and systems, lead annual retirement audit and ensure appropriate accruals for annual retirement matches. The Payroll Manager is responsible for quarterly and annual reporting, IRS filings and all tax and legal changes which affect payroll. In addition, this position will work closely with the our financial team, assisting with the acquisition/integration process of dental practices.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

· Manage the payroll process for multiple state locations to ensure that employees are paid timely and accurately and in accordance with labor laws for each state in which the employee resides.

· Review audit and exception reports. Work with Payroll staff to identify errors and address them in a timely manner.

· Review quarterly and annual reporting to regulatory agencies.

· Coordinate with accountants on compensation data for IRS Form 990 fillings.

· Own and manage physician compensation calculations and drive organization efficiencies, processes, and systems for physician compensation.

· Document payroll and compensation processes and implement process improvements in coordination with HR team.

· Lead organizational change and take responsibility for staying current with tax and legal changes that impact payroll.

· Reconcile payroll and benefit liability accounts.

· Ensure benefit premium deductions are properly entered in the payroll system.

· Coordinate annual retirement match with Manager of Total Compensation and ensure appropriate monthly accruals. Lead annual retirement plan audit and participate in quarterly retirement planning committee meetings.

· Ensure all non-salary compensation payments, such as incentives, bonuses, executive

payments, non-qualified deferred compensation are paid accurately in accordance with

federal and state regulations.

· Assist with the management of the Integration Pipeline – ensuring all necessary documents/information, such as 100-day plan are received from practices in timely manner.

· Build effective working relationships throughout the organization with managers, doctors and staff.

· Provide exceptional leadership for the payroll team, communicating vision and priorities to facilitate ongoing team development. Establish performance expectations and provide coaching to achieve positive individual and team results.

· Recognize effective performance and address performance needing improvement in an honest and timely manner.

· Other duties, responsibilities, or tasks as assigned by the VP of Human Resources or Sr. Management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position manages designated payroll staff (generally 2-5 people) and is directly supervised by the VP of Human Resources.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university required. Minimum seven years’ payroll experience required. Minimum two years management experience required; Dental experience strongly preferred. Combination of education/experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties outlined for this position may be considered.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Candidates must be legally employable by a U.S. business.Paylocity program - Expert Training Certification – highly desired.

Pay: $76,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
