High school diploma/GED, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Correctional Sergeant (PSP064) or position equivalent.

Six months experience as a first-line supervisor of correctional officers assigned to a variety of security posts such as housing units, offender work details, perimeter security, back gate security, etc. This preferred experience may be included in the one year of full-time experience as a Sergeant; OID Sergeant; or Sergeant, Construction Services; necessary to meet the minimum qualifications. Or completion of at least an Associate's degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a directly related field.
