JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to perform floor care and cleaning tasks within County Department for Correction facility. The work is performed under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs regular floor and carpet care cleaning tasks to include, but not limited to, regular vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.

Scrubs, buffs, waxes, and strips vinyl & terrazzo flooring. Cleans carpet by spot cleaning and thorough carpet extraction on occasional basis.

Regularly power washes housing unit showers and bathrooms in the secured areas of the facility.

Cleans and disinfects restrooms & locker rooms. Polish mirrors and faucets, cleans sinks, toilet, and urinal fixtures, cleans partitions, lockers and wall tile as needed.

Cleans and polishes drinking fountains.

Dusts windowsills, ledges, counters, and work surfaces/areas as required.

Disinfects high touch areas throughout the facility.

Cleans interior glass and windows as needed.

Replenishes soap and paper supplies in restrooms, break rooms. Stocks janitorial supplies.

Empties trash containers and removes debris.

Moves furniture and equipment as needed for deeper cleaning and floor care procedures.

Notifies Custodial Supervisor when supplies are low, trash container or dispensers are damaged or broken.

Initiates and completes custodial related work orders.

Maintains knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting practices and procedures and performs job duties in a safe manner.

Suggest changes in cleaning products or materials to improve operations.

Adhere to strict security protocol within the facility to ensure safety and security of both staff and inmates.

Executes additional custodial tasks to address emergency situations (i.e., sprinkler breaks, or water leaks). Events may occur outside of normal business hours.

Assist in after-hour events to support custodian needs (i.e., Council, or other County meetings).

Performs additional cleaning work or deep cleaning tasks outside of normal assignment as needed. Additional work may occur in other county facilites.

Assists Custodial Supervisor with acceptance of supply deliveries.

Completes timecards documenting time spent in various areas of County facilities.

This position cannot telecommute.

Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
-
One-year responsible work experience, preferably in custodial, janitorial or housekeeping.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Candidate will be required to report all prior convictions and/or pending charges and successfully pass a background check.
-
Maintain a clean record and successful completion of PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) training.
- Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
