Status: Full-Time / Part-Time
Starting Salary: 20.52-20.84 per Hour

Position Summary:

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our team as Corrections Officers. This position involves maintaining the safety, security, and welfare of inmates housed in the Pulaski County Jail, as well as ensuring a secure environment for staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor inmate activities and ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations
• Conduct routine security checks, inspections, and headcounts
• Escort inmates to and from court, medical appointments, and other designated areas
• Respond to emergencies, disturbances, or incidents in a calm and professional manner
• Complete detailed reports and maintain accurate records of inmate behavior and facility operations
• Search inmates and living quarters for contraband
• Ensure safety and cleanliness standards are maintained in all areas of the facility
• Enforce all policies, procedures, and laws applicable to correctional facilities

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Indiana driver's license
• Must pass a background check and drug screening
• Ability to complete Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Jail Officer Training within required timeframe
• Strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and act effectively in high-stress situations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in corrections, law enforcement, or security
• Military background a plus
• CPR and First Aid certification

Work Conditions:

• Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays
• Work is performed in a secure correctional facility setting
• May involve physical exertion and exposure to potentially dangerous situations
