Job Summary
Foster support and cooperation among staff members and corrections staff to promote teamwork and fulfillment of the unit mission. Screens electronic, written and verbal medical, dental and mental health requests for urgent/emergent conditions. Organizes and executes intake assessments, daily sick call in accordance with Health Corr policies and procedures. Schedules patients for provider sick clinic based on data collected during daily sick call. Assists providers with patient clinic visits, including putting patients in rooms, interviewing patients, administering injections, recording vital signs including pulse rate, blood pressure, respiration count, temperature, height and weight, and enters information in patient’s record. Performs select clinical tests, including phlebotomy. Performs administrative tasks, including form completions, prescription refills, referrals and providing patient educational material. Administers and documents medication under provider’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medical error. Documents encounters.
This is a 6PM to 6AM position with a fixed schedule.
## Requirements
- Valid RN license and BLS certification
- Proficiency in assessment and medication administration
- Experience in medical-surgical, ER, Urgent Care, corrections, mental health settings
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with inmate patients, law enforcement and corrections personnel
