Cost Control Engineer

The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling project costs to ensure delivery within approved budgets. The role requires strong engineering fundamentals combined with advanced cost management expertise, particularly within large-scale construction and fit-out projects in KSA. The candidate will play a critical role in financial forecasting, cost reporting, and commercial decision support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cost control systems and procedures across projects.
  • Prepare project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor project expenditures and compare against approved budgets.
  • Identify cost variances, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare periodic cost reports, including Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
  • Support project teams in cost estimation, procurement planning, and contract evaluations.
  • Track commitments, variations, and change orders, ensuring proper cost allocation.
  • Coordinate with planning engineers to align cost and schedule performance.
  • Review subcontractor payments, invoices, and financial claims.
  • Provide input into value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and client requirements.
  • Participate in project risk assessments with focus on financial exposure.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related discipline).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in cost control within large-scale construction projects .
  • Proven experience in fit-out/interior works projects (highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, BOQs, and cost structures.
  • Experience working in KSA or GCC region is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in cost control tools and software (e.g., Primavera P6, SAP, Excel advanced level).
  • Familiarity with contracts (FIDIC or equivalent) and commercial practices.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
