Job Purpose
The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and forecasting project costs related to contractors. The role ensures that all contractor-related expenditures are properly tracked, controlled, and reported in line with budgetary and contractual requirements, supporting project efficiency and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management & Control
- Monitor contractor costs against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Review and validate contractor invoices, claims, variations, and payment certificates.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and cost control procedures.
- Track cost commitments and actual expenditures related to contractors.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in developing project cost budgets for contractor services.
- Provide regular cost reports, variance analyses, and forecasts to management.
- Highlight potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Contractor Coordination
- Work closely with procurement, contracts, and project teams to ensure contractor deliverables align with financial controls.
- Support negotiations and cost discussions with contractors when required.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare detailed cost reports for management and stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date records of contractor agreements, variations, and financial performance.
- Support audits and compliance reviews with accurate cost documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in cost control, preferably within construction, engineering, or contracting industries.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and contractor cost management.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, with strong communication and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards, project management, and financial control practices.
