Cost Estimation/ Cost Control Engineer

We Are Hiring – Cost Estimation / Cost Control Engineer
(Main Contractor Company – Qatar)

We are a leading main contracting company in Qatar looking for a Cost Estimation / Cost Control Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimation, cost control, and project financial management within the construction and infrastructure sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Review Project Documents – Analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BOQs, coordinating with design and engineering teams.
• Quantity Take-Off (QTO) – Accurately measure quantities using estimation software and classify by work package/discipline.
• Cost Analysis & Estimation – Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, including overheads, margins, risks, and escalation.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination – Request/evaluate quotations and maintain price databases.
• Tender / Bid Preparation – Compile commercial/technical proposals and coordinate pricing validations.
• Value Engineering – Recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or compliance.
• Reporting – Provide estimate summaries, cost comparisons, and variation impact reports.
• Post-Tender Support – Assist in negotiations, budget finalization, and transition to project control.
• Budget Development – Establish baseline budgets and allocate to cost centers/WBS.
• Cost Monitoring & Tracking – Track planned vs. actual costs, commitments, invoices, and changes using ERP/Primavera systems.
• Change Management – Assess cost impacts, update forecasts, and document approved variations.
• Forecasting – Prepare CTC & CAC reports, monitor trends, and advise management on overruns or savings.
• Cash Flow & Payment Schedules – Develop/update project cash flows and track payments.
• Coordination – Work closely with planning, procurement, and site teams to align cost and schedule data.
• Auditing & Documentation – Ensure compliance with audit requirements and maintain proper cost/change records.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Architectural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in cost estimation and/or cost control within construction and infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and local market pricing.
• Proficient in:
• Estimation tools: Candy, PlanSwift, CostX, AutoCAD
• Cost control tools: Excel (advanced), Primavera P6, SAP/ERP systems
• Solid understanding of contract types, variation orders, and procurement processes.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Must be available in Qatar with transferable visa.
• UPDA Certification is mandatory.
