Key Responsibilities
- Study RFQs, technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) based on drawings and tender documents.
- Perform MTO (Material Take-Off) calculations for plates, pipes, fittings, flanges, structural steel, and bought-out items.
- Prepare detailed cost estimations covering:
- Raw materials (MS, SS, alloys, plates, pipes, etc.)
- Cutting, rolling, bending, forming, and machining costs
- Welding, assembly, and fabrication labor
- Consumables (electrodes, gas, flux, grinding wheels, etc.)
- Surface treatment (blasting, painting, galvanizing, lining)
- Testing (Hydro Test, NDT, RT, UT, PMI, etc.)
- Weight calculation of tanks, vessels, and structural assemblies.
- Floating enquiries to vendors/subcontractors and evaluating quotations.
- Prepare techno-commercial offers and tender submissions.
- Coordinate with design, production, QA/QC, and purchase teams for inputs.
- Maintain estimation and costing databank for future projects.
- Support client discussions and resolve technical/commercial queries.
- Identify cost optimization and value engineering opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 4–8 years’ experience in fabrication / heavy engineering industry.
- Hands-on experience in BOQ preparation and MTO calculation is mandatory.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in BOQ preparation and MTO extraction from drawings.
- Ability to read GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and isometrics.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas preferred).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD / SolidWorks (preferred).
- Knowledge of material grades, welding processes, and testing standards.
- Vendor coordination and negotiation skills.
- Cost analysis and commercial awareness.
