Costume Stitchers (Temporary)

Description

Stitchers are responsible for constructing, altering, and maintaining costumes for the 2026 New Year’s Eve celebrations in Dubai. Working under the Wardrobe Project Managers, the stitchers ensure that all costumes are prepared, fitted, and finished to the highest professional standards. This role requires excellent technical sewing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight production timelines.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Construct, alter, and repair costumes according to supervisor instructions.
• Operate industrial and domestic sewing machines, overlockers (sergers), and other specialized equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform hand sewing, finishing, and embellishment work as required.
• Assist in fittings and execute alterations based on notes from the designer or fitter.
• Maintain organization of costume work areas.
• Collaborate closely with wardrobe staff during rehearsals and performances to address costume needs, repairs, or quick fixes.
• Assist in costume labeling, tagging, and documentation for tracking and inventory.
• Uphold costume quality control standards, ensuring garments meet visual and functional performance requirements.
• Follow established health and safety guidelines in the costume workroom and backstage environments.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Costume Stitcher, Wardrobe Technician, or Tailor in live performance, film, or event production.
• Demonstrated proficiency with sewing machines, overlockers/sergers, and hand-sewing techniques.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and finishing methods.
• Ability to interpret alteration notes accurately.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Fluency in English is a plus, but not required.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 2 months

Base Pay: AED3,750.00 - AED4,750.00 per week
