Description:

This position provides professional individual and group counseling to students and works with other educators and staff to provide educational and support opportunities for students.


Responsibilities

Primary Duties


1. Provide individual counseling to students under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and Health Services.
2. Produce and maintain client case documentation in keeping with professional standards.
3. Collaborate with other departments or staff in providing support for students
4. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
5. Attend meetings as requested

Secondary Duties


1. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education Required

Master’s degree in a counseling-related field; professional license preferred.

Experience Required

2 years counseling experience in a college setting required.

Experience Preferred

Skills, Characteristics Required


  • Knowledgeable with applying a variety of counseling treatment modalities;
  • Understanding of developmental psychology as it pertains to college-age students;
  • Ability to empathize with students and relate well to a diverse student body
  • Ability to facilitate groups
  • Excellent organizational and program design skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Ability to work independently•Ability to conduct effective program assessment

Special Working Conditions

May need to work evenings and weekends for on-call services and educational programs.
