Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health counseling and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care to individuals and families. This role involves working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults, addressing various mental health challenges through evidence-based therapeutic practices. The Counselor will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate clients' mental health needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical evaluations.
• Provide psychotherapy using various modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on topics such as grief, addiction, PTSD care, and crisis intervention.
• Engage in crisis management and provide direct support during emergencies.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Conduct research and data collection to enhance therapeutic practices and outcomes.
• Utilize telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions as needed.
• Stay current with ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis and billing processes.

Experience
Candidates should have a strong foundation in counseling techniques with experience in the following areas being highly desirable:

• Psychotherapy and clinical counseling
• Child & family counseling
• Working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
• Crisis intervention and management
• Behavioral therapy including applied behavior analysis
• Experience in inpatient or outpatient settings
• Familiarity with medical terminology, records, and documentation practices
• Knowledge of art therapy or dance therapy is a plus
• Experience working within special education or geriatrics is beneficial
