About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and strategic Country Head for Power Transmission & Distribution to lead and oversee all T&D operations, business development, and project execution activities in Kuwait. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in power systems combined with strong leadership and commercial acumen.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the country-level strategy for the T&D business in alignment with regional and global objectives.
  • Represent the organization with government bodies, utilities, and key stakeholders in Kuwait.
  • Drive business growth through new project wins, partnerships, and client relationships.


Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities in Kuwait's power transmission and distribution sector.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Kuwait Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW), Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), and other key clients.
  • Lead tendering, bid strategy, and contract negotiations for major T&D projects.


Project & Operations Management

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of T&D projects including substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor project KPIs and take corrective action where necessary.


Financial Management

  • Manage the country P&L, budgets, forecasting, and cost controls.
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability targets for the Kuwait business unit.
  • Oversee contract management, invoicing, and cash flow.


Team Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and support staff.
  • Foster a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive talent development and succession planning.


Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Kuwait's regulatory framework, local laws, and international standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.).
  • Maintain HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards across all operations.
  • Manage relationships with local authorities and ensure all permits and licenses are in order.




Qualifications & Requirements


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory)
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management (preferred)


Experience

  • Minimum 15–20 years of experience in the power T&D sector
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership or country/regional head role
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale T&D projects (132kV, 220kV, 400kV substations, transmission lines, distribution networks)
  • Prior experience working in Kuwait or the GCC region is strongly preferred


Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of power transmission and distribution systems, grid infrastructure, and smart grid technologies
  • Familiarity with SCADA, protection systems, and energy management systems
  • Understanding of EPC and LSTK contract models


Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
  • Ability to navigate government and regulatory environments in Kuwait
  • Culturally aware with experience working in the Middle East




Preferred Certifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • HSE certifications (NEBOSH or equivalent)
