Examples of specimens may include:

  • Blood samples • Urine samples • Tissue samples • Other veterinary laboratory specimens

These specimens are very small and lightweight. Most are transported in small bags, containers, or tubes and fit inside a small cooler.

This is NOT a heavy lifting position.

PAY

  • $700 per week • 1099 Independent Contractor Position • Potential increase to $750 per week after 6 months of satisfactory performance • Weekly route with consistent work • Contractor uses their own vehicle

PAY SCHEDULE

This route operates on a payment lag system.

Work completed during your first week is paid during your third week.

Example:

Week 1 worked → Paid Tuesday of Week 3

If a holiday falls on Monday, payment will be issued Wednesday instead.

After your first payment is received, all future payments are issued every Friday.

Once established in the payment cycle, you will receive weekly payments every Friday.

MONDAY–FRIDAY ROUTE

Start Time: 4:15 PM–4:30 PM

Drivers begin in the New Albany, Indiana area and perform specimen pickups from veterinary hospitals and animal clinics.

Most stops are located within a condensed service area and are generally only 5–10 minutes apart.

The local pickup portion of the route generally takes approximately 2.5–3 hours to complete.

After completing pickups, drivers report to the hub location.

As the line haul driver, you will transport all specimens collected that evening, including specimens collected by other drivers.

Drivers are expected to remain available until all specimens have arrived at the hub.

Once all specimens are received, the line haul driver transports them to the Indianapolis laboratory drop location.

The Indianapolis transport portion takes approximately 2 hours.

Total active work time is generally about 5–5.5 hours per day.

SATURDAY ROUTE

Start Time: 12:00 PM

Saturday consists of local pickups and laboratory drop-off only.

No Indianapolis run is required.

The Saturday route generally takes approximately 1–1.5 hours to complete.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Reliable personal vehicle required • Active insurance required • Valid driver's license required • Fuel-efficient vehicles strongly preferred

We structure and quote this route around vehicles that average approximately 25 MPG or better.

If you drive a large truck, diesel truck, or low-MPG SUV, please consider your fuel and operating costs before applying.

RELIABILITY REQUIREMENTS

This position is for dependable individuals only.

If you are not reliable, please do not apply.

Laboratory specimens must move every scheduled day. Animals, veterinary clinics, and testing facilities depend on these samples arriving on time.

This position requires contractors who take responsibility for their route and plan ahead.

As an independent contractor, you are responsible for ensuring your route is covered when you cannot work.

All contractors must maintain a backup driver who can cover the route when needed.

Backup drivers must:

  • Be at least 21 years old • Have a valid driver's license • Meet insurance requirements • Be trained on route procedures before covering the route • Be approved and kept on file

Contractors are responsible for training their backup driver and ensuring they are capable of completing the route.

We do not provide backup drivers.

Whether the issue is illness, vacation, vehicle problems, a dead battery, a flat tire, or another unexpected situation, contractors are expected to have a plan in place to ensure route completion.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Professional • Dependable • Self-motivated • Organized • Punctual • Good communicator • Comfortable working independently • Able to solve problems without constant supervision

This route is best suited for individuals who understand the responsibilities of operating as an independent contractor and who take pride in being reliable every day.

If that sounds like you, we encourage you to apply.

  • BACKUP COVERAGE

While a backup driver is not required, it is highly encouraged. Life happens—vacations, family events, illnesses, and vehicle issues can arise.

In some cases, another driver may be willing to cover the Indianapolis run if given sufficient notice. However, they are under no obligation to do so, and this should never be relied upon.

Even if the Indianapolis run is covered, you are still responsible for completing your local pickup route.

Pay is $700 per week.

This route operates on a payment lag system. Work completed during your first week is paid on Tuesday of your third week (or Wednesday if a holiday falls on Monday). After your first payment, payments are issued every Friday.

The payment lag allows time for client processing, route verification, key accountability, and the resolution of any route-related issues. This is a standard part of how this account is managed.

Cash App is strongly preferred, as it is our primary payment method.

  • Do you understand that Monday through Friday, the route starts between 4:15 PM and 4:30 PM in the New Albany area, includes approximately 2.5–3 hours of local pickups, followed by a 2-hour Indianapolis line haul after collecting all specimens at the hub? (Yes/No)

  • Do you have a Backup driver
  • If you are not selected for the full-time route, would you be interested in becoming an on-demand driver? On-demand drivers are trained on the route and may be called to provide same-day or advance coverage when needed. This can also provide future opportunities if a route becomes available. Please only answer "Yes" if you are genuinely interested in being available for route coverage when needed. (Yes/No)
  • What do you currently do for work?

Do you have a current and valid vehicle registration? (Yes/No)

  • PAYMENT & STARTUP COSTS

Because this route operates on a payment lag system, contractors must be prepared to cover their own fuel and operating expenses until their first payment is received.

Work completed during your first week is paid on Tuesday of your third week (or Wednesday if a holiday falls on Monday).

Before applying, please ensure you have sufficient funds available for fuel and normal vehicle operating expenses during this initial period.

Do you understand and meet this requirement? (Yes/No)

  • ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & AGREEMENT

By applying and selecting “Yes” to the screening questions, you acknowledge that your responses are part of the application and understanding of this contractor role, including all job requirements, responsibilities, scheduling, payment structure, and route expectations.

If hired, these acknowledgements will be considered part of your agreement and understanding of the position.

In the event of route abandonment, failure to complete assigned routes, or failure to provide the required 30-day notice, any applicable earnings may be offset or adjusted to cover coverage or replacement costs, as outlined in the contractor agreement.

This opportunity is intended for professional, reliable drivers who can consistently meet all responsibilities. If you are unable to meet these expectations, we respectfully ask that you do not apply.

  • This position requires an immediate start, ideally within one to two days of a job offer. Can you meet this requirement?
