Courier Driver / Delivery Contractor – Medical Route (Danville, IL)

Seeking a reliable courier driver or small delivery company for a dedicated medical route contract based out of Danville, IL.

This is a full-time weekday route under a 1099 contract with long-term potential:

• 1-year base contract
• 4 option years (up to 5 years total)

Job Overview

Driver will handle daily pickup and delivery of medical supplies and equipment between the VA Medical Center in Danville and surrounding clinics.

Routes are pre-established and assigned by day — this is not on-demand or random dispatching.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• No weekends
• No federal holidays
• Driver must report to the VAMC (Danville) by 8:00 AM daily
• All routes begin with pickup at the main campus

Estimated Mileage

• Approx. 700–850 miles per week
• Approx. 2,800–3,600 miles per month

WEEKLY ROUTE SCHEDULE

• Monday (Champaign): ~70–90 miles
• Tuesday (Bloomington + Peoria): ~200–250 miles
• Wednesday (Mattoon): ~90–120 miles
• Thursday (Decatur + Springfield): ~180–240 miles
• Friday (Peoria): ~160–200 miles

Fuel, vehicle wear, and time should be factored into your pricing.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver medical supplies, equipment, and linen
• Safely transport items between facilities
• Secure all items during transit
• Obtain delivery signatures at each location
• Follow assigned route schedule and timelines

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable vehicle (cargo van, sprinter, or similar recommended)
• Ability to handle and transport items up to 500 lbs (with proper equipment)
• You handle all standard route deliveries. Any oversized/heavy equipment will be coordinated separately.
• Ability to pass background check (VA facility requirement)
• Professional and dependable

Driver must provide:

• Vehicle suitable for transport
• Dollies, straps, or handling equipment as needed

Pay Structure

• Estimated $9000 per month
• Monthly contract (1099)
• Paid monthly (in arrears)
