SUMMARY: Performs a wide variety of judicial specific procedures requiring specialized knowledge. Responsibilities encompass a wide variety of clerical activities associated with case processing requiring technical knowledge in all aspects of court operations. The Court Clerk shall perform the duties without personal views and relationships affecting the performance of duties will not attempt to influence the course of court proceedings and, will maintain confidentiality of all official court matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree OR Associate of Arts Degree and two years of progressively responsible clerical support experience in a court or legal environment. OR High School Diploma and four years of progressively responsible clerical support experience in a court or legal environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients and other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fraction and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to pass a background check. Valid Washington State Driver’s License is also required. Additionally, must complete Court Clerk Certification within one year from date of employment.
