Job Description: Under the general direction of the City Manager, this position is a classified “at-will’” exempt position. This position is classified as a Department Head and is responsible for department budget, time management and supervision of the court clerk. The Court Supervisor manages two Justice Courts (Washington Terrace City and Marriott-Slatterville City). Performs a variety of complex administrative duties designed to support the functions, actions, judgements, processes and procedures associated with the Justice Court. Responsible for completing tasks for Department audits, to include Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), and annual City independent audits.
The Court Clerk Supervisor maintains liaison with correctional facilities, driver’s license division, treatment agencies, law enforcement agencies, and city administration. Daily cash receipting is required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
· Works closely with the prosecuting attorney and coordinates with the preparation of formal information, subpoenas and affidavits.
· Coordinates all small clam matters filed by plaintiffs.
· Monitors state – code changes and policy changes, updates court documents.
· Coordinates the daily function of the Justice Court and ongoing maintenance of court records; provides coordination of functions affecting city prosecutor, law enforcement and bailiff.
· Attends court and assists Judge with in-court processing of cases. Oversees any jury settings.
· Ensures accuracy and completion of all documents, including orders of plea bargains, commitments to jail, stays, referrals to alcohol and drug, anger management, etc. programs, trials, and pre-trial notices, continuances, etc. Calls cases, swears in witnesses and marks evidence.
· Maintains calendar of events, such as trials, pre-trials, sentencing, hearings and motions; prepares and distributes notice of trials, pre-trials, subpoenas, case materials, and instructs defendants.
· Maintains, tracks, and follows up on all citations and formal information.
· Oversees all case information entered into CORIS.
· Files all reports required by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC)
· Collects fines and forfeitures and files reports with State.
· Performs BCI procedures
· Functions as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAQ) for statewide information.
· Responsible for the Electronic Filing program.
· Must maintain all Court Certifications.
· As a Department Head, attends weekly staff meetings and maintains communicative relationship with City Manager.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,952.00 - $80,427.00 per year
