Job Summary
The Crane Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead cranes, hoists, lifting mechanisms, and related mechanical systems used within the steel factory. The role ensures safe and uninterrupted lifting operations supporting production and logistics activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of overhead cranes, hoists, lifting equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults in crane systems.
- Inspect wire ropes, lifting hooks, brakes, motors, gearboxes, and load-bearing components.
- Calibrate and adjust crane mechanisms to ensure safe operation.
- Work closely with crane operators to resolve operational issues.
- Maintain maintenance documentation, inspection checklists, and service reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards for lifting equipment and working at heights.
- Assist during shutdowns, major overhauls, and structural repairs.
Requirements
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience maintaining overhead cranes in steel plants or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of gearboxes, braking systems, hoists, hydraulics, and mechanical alignment.
- Basic knowledge of crane electrical circuits is an added advantage.
- Ability to work at heights and in hot industrial environments.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
