Creative Director/Manager

Creative Director - Ex Novo Brewing Co.

Ex Novo Brewing Company is seeking a Creative Director to lead the visual identity and creative execution of the Ex Novo brand across packaging, merchandise, taprooms, digital platforms, events, and marketing materials.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. The Creative Director serves as the lead designer and visual steward of the brand while collaborating closely with leadership, sales, brewing, taproom, and marketing teams to create thoughtful, engaging, and effective creative work that reflects Ex Novo’s values, personality, and commitment to Do Good.

The ideal candidate is highly creative, organized, collaborative, adaptable, and capable of balancing long-term brand development with the fast-moving needs of a growing brewery and hospitality company.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Leadership & Visual Identity

  • Lead and maintain Ex Novo Brewing Company’s visual identity across all platforms and customer touchpoints.
  • Ensure consistency in branding, typography, packaging, photography, merchandise, signage, digital assets, and marketing materials.
  • Continue evolving and refining the brand while maintaining a cohesive and recognizable identity.
  • Uphold brand standards across all internal and external creative deliverables.

Design & Creative Execution

  • Serve as lead designer for packaging, merchandise, campaigns, event materials, digital assets, and marketing collateral.
  • Design and prepare production-ready artwork for print, packaging, web, and promotional use.
  • Create assets including, but not limited to:
  • Beer packaging and labels
  • Merchandise
  • Posters, signage, and sales materials
  • Event branding
  • Social media campaign assets
  • Web graphics and launch pages
  • Collaborate with illustrators, photographers, printers, and external vendors when needed.

Campaign Development

  • Conceptualize and execute creative campaigns surrounding beer releases, seasonal launches, collaborations, events, merchandise, and community initiatives.
  • Develop campaign timelines and creative priorities in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Ensure campaigns remain visually cohesive across social media, web, taprooms, and print materials.

Packaging & Product Branding

  • Lead creative development for core brands, specialty releases, and seasonal products.
  • Collaborate with brewing and operations teams to align timelines for releases, approvals, packaging production, and launches.
  • Prepare and organize artwork files for print vendors and packaging suppliers.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail across packaging systems and production requirements.

Merchandise & Retail Creative

  • Develop branded merchandise concepts and seasonal collections aligned with the Ex Novo brand.
  • Source, collaborate on, and approve merchandise designs, apparel, and promotional items.
  • Maintain awareness of trends, quality standards, and seasonal planning timelines.

Website & Digital Creative Oversight

  • Oversee visual consistency and creative direction across Ex Novo’s website and digital platforms.
  • Design web graphics, promotional assets, and release visuals.
  • Collaborate with developers and marketing staff on digital launches and website updates.

Event & Experiential Branding

  • Design creative assets for festivals, special events, collaborations, and community activations.
  • Support development of cohesive event branding and customer-facing experiences.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure events align visually and strategically with the Ex Novo brand.

Collaboration & Organization

  • Work cross-functionally with brewing, sales, taproom, leadership, and marketing teams to support company initiatives.
  • Help establish and maintain organized timelines, asset management systems, and creative workflows.
  • Provide creative direction and feedback to photographers, freelancers, social media staff, and creative collaborators when applicable.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design, creative direction, branding, or marketing design.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing branding, packaging, merchandise, and campaign work.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong understanding of print production, packaging design, typography, layout, and brand systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to balance conceptual thinking with hands-on production work.
  • Experience in hospitality, beverage, lifestyle, or consumer brands preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
