About the Company

Ruston Paving is a 100% employee-owned commercial and industrial paving construction contractor with offices in New York, Virginia, and North Carolina. Established in 1943, we are a family-oriented company that has been in business for three generations. Our company is capable of all types of asphalt paving projects ranging from minor repairs to larger projects incorporating asphalt reclamation and recycling, as well as new construction.

General Summary of the Position

Teamwork is a major part of every position at Ruston Paving, so it is important to note that, aside from all other listed responsibilities, you must be willing to assist others and be as productive as possible. The Creative Marketing Intern is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing within the construction industry, focusing on both digital and print media.

Essential Functions

The following are a list of essential functions for the position. These are responsibilities that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation

Content Creation:
Assist in writing code for the company website, blog posts, and email newsletters.
Create visual materials for printing including brochures, flyers, and project signage.
Develop engaging content for social media platforms, highlighting our asphalt paving projects and services.
Project Documentation:
Capture high-quality photos and videos of ongoing paving projects to showcase our work.
Create before-and-after visuals to illustrate the quality and impact of our services.
Digital Marketing:
Manage and update Ruston Paving’s social media accounts with project updates and industry news.
Help optimize website content for SEO to improve online visibility and engagement.
Track and analyze metrics related to website traffic and social media engagement.
Print Media Support:
Design print advertisements for in-house and outward-facing publications and trade magazines.
Develop marketing collateral for trade shows and community events.
Market Research:
Conduct research on local competitors and industry trends in asphalt paving.
Gather customer testimonials and develop case studies from successful projects.
All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Here are some key skills and qualifications we are looking for in a candidate:

Excitement and motivation for the workday ahead.
Proficient in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
Basic understanding of SEO principles and social media marketing.
Professionalism and willingness to take direction and constructive criticism.

Expresses a genuine interest in the thoughts, opinions, and needs of coworkers and customers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, as well as work independently.

Ability to meet attendance standards with dependability and consistency.

Education and Experience

Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
Interest in or knowledge of the construction industry.
Experience with video editing software and photography.
Familiarity with content management systems and email marketing platforms.
Valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain said license) with the willingness to visit job sites occasionally.

Noise level is generally loud on job sites.
Employees may occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
