Creative Media Assistant

A creative, detail-oriented person who can help us tell the story of what happens inside our studio walls through photography, graphics, and social media content.

We are a YPAD-certified performing arts studio where dance, music, and drama teach children far more than technique. They teach confidence, responsibility, and community. At Melody Lane, families do not just enroll in classes. They become part of something bigger.

What You Will Do

This role is part creative eye, part brand storyteller. You will work on-site at the studio to capture the energy and heart of what we do, then turn it into content that connects with families. You will:

• Photograph and video classes, rehearsals, performances, and studio life
• Create on-brand graphics for social media, flyers, and studio communications using Canva
• Help build and schedule social media content (Instagram, Facebook) that reflects our voice and values
• Learn and follow Melody Lane's brand guidelines, including colors, fonts, tone, and messaging
• Attend at least one late evening per week to capture content during classes
• Organize and manage a growing library of studio photos and videos
• Collaborate with studio leadership on content ideas and campaigns
• Stay current on social media trends and bring fresh ideas to the table

You Are a Great Fit If You...

• Have a natural eye for composition, lighting, and moments worth capturing
• Are comfortable with Canva or similar graphic design tools (or eager to learn quickly)
• Know your way around Instagram and Facebook, both as a user and a creator
• Can take direction on brand voice and style, then run with it independently
• Are reliable, self-motivated, and do not need to be micromanaged
• Feel energized by a studio full of kids learning, performing, and having fun
• Are open to feedback and genuinely want to grow your skills
• Have your own smartphone with a quality camera (studio may provide additional equipment as needed)

This Is Not the Right Fit If You...

• Want full creative control without input from leadership
• Are looking for a remote or work-from-home position (this role is in-person)
• Are not available for at least one late evening per week
• Need extensive training on basic phone photography or are not comfortable learning new tools
• See this as just a side gig you will drop when something better comes along

Schedule and Pay

• 10 to 15 hours per week
• Monday through Thursday (in-person, at the studio)
• Must be available at least two late evening per week between 5-8 to capture class content these days will need to change every week ie Monday Wednesday one week Tuesday Thursday the next week.
• Additional hours required during showcase and performance weeks 3 times a year (weekends)
• $17 to $28 per hour based on experience and portfolio
