CREATIVE SERVICES ARTIST

Job Title: Creative Services Production Artist (On-Site)

Department: Creative Services

Location: Macedon, NY - Onsite

FLSA Status: Hourly

Salary Range:

Purpose: The Production Artist is responsible for converting customer-submitted artwork into a press-compatible format. They will process jobs efficiently while providing the highest quality and managing customer and plant expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Create production art based on client requirements
• Create all final files according to the press requirements, including press technical marks, color correction, etc.
• Follow the artist instructions in the Creative Services database
• Produce color separations for printing plates
• Produce color proofs for internal and external customers
• Keep digital files organized according to the procedure
• Make independent judgments of working art files, analyzing needs and product requirements to create a final press-ready file
• Maintain an effective comprehension of profiling and workflow procedures
• Proofread all work, including customer proofs and final files
• Develop and implement new ideas to improve workflows

• Assist with fingerprint and proof profiling activities
• Consistently meet acceptable standards of quality and quantity
• Contribute to department and corporate goals
• Demonstrate a teamwork attitude
• Maintain housekeeping

Qualifications:

• Degree in Graphic Design or Flexo Printing Technology, or equivalent work experience
• Extensive experience with
  • Mac operating systems and associated software
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Microsoft Suite
• Ability to identify and analyze a problem
• Basic knowledge of Flexography or similar printing methods
• Experience with color-correcting images using Adobe Photoshop
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to pass a color vision test within normal limits
• Visual acuity of at least 20/50 for distance (corrected or uncorrected) and a minimal near vision ability to read 10–12-point type at a distance of 12-18 inches
• Ability to pass an artist’s skills test administered at our facility
• Preferred knowledge or experience with Esko or other RIP Software
• Ability to travel occasionally if needed
