Creative Social Media Video Editor

We are a rapidly growing digital media company creating content around restaurants, events, family activities, and local experiences. We produce high energy, engaging content across multiple social media platforms and are looking for a creative editor who can help bring our content to life.

About the Role

This is not a position for someone who simply trims clips together. We are looking for an editor who understands storytelling, audience retention, social media trends, and how to create content that performs.

You should be able to take raw footage and transform it into engaging short-form videos that capture attention, keep viewers watching, and drive engagement. We're looking for someone who can think creatively, contribute ideas, and work independently once direction is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Edit TikToks, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts
  • Create strong hooks, pacing, captions, transitions, and storytelling that improve viewer retention
  • Research trends, viral formats, and content opportunities within our niche
  • Suggest new content ideas and creative approaches
  • Create thumbnails, graphics, and visual assets using Canva
  • Maintain a consistent brand style across all content
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Assist with occasional content repurposing for website articles and blog posts

Requirements

  • Proven experience editing short-form social media content
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating engaging, high-performing video edits
  • Proficiency with CapCut and Canva
  • Understanding of social media trends, audience behavior, and retention strategies
  • Ability to take raw footage and create polished, engaging content with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail, including spelling, captions, timing, and overall presentation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to accept and implement feedback
  • Reliable, organized, and deadline-driven
  • Must have access to reliable editing software and be comfortable managing large video files

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CapCut and Canva
  • Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube analytics
  • Experience creating content in the food, lifestyle, travel, entertainment, or local events space
  • Photography or graphic design experience is a plus but not required

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate understands what makes people stop scrolling and can consistently create content designed to maximize watch time, engagement, shares, and saves while maintaining a strong brand voice. You should be able to think independently and creatively without needing step-by-step instructions for every edit. You can take a general concept, identify the strongest moments, and build engaging content that aligns with the brand’s goals. Be open-minded, receptive to feedback, and coachable.

  • Must be comfortable turning around time-sensitive content when needed

Pay: $750.00 - $1,500.00 per month
