This position is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and supervising road
construction and maintenance activities and assigned personnel.
Major Duties:
• Supervises employees on construction job sites.
- Supervises a n d instructs employees on work methods, procedures and standards related
to their assignments.
- Supervises and performs drainage improvements, including cleaning culverts, installing
driveway pipes, and collecting litter from road and right-of-way.
- Clears overhanging limbs.
- Supervises work in progress.
- Ensures compliance with Superintendent’s directives.
- Detect/report necessary repairs and improvements.
- Responds to complaints received by Superintendent.
- Cross trains employees to ensure they can perform all departmental activities.
- Operates heavy equipment.
- Manage county issued p-card purchases.
- Assist in maintaining all records pertinent to the operation of the department.
- Report quantity of materials and supplies needed for department and SPLOST projects
- Performs the duties of the Assistant Road Superintendent in his or her absence.
- Ensures all equipment on jobs are used properly and report deficiencies.
- Employee will be required to perform on-call and after-hours duties as assigned, including
response during inclement weather events, emergencies, and participation in a regular
rotational on-call schedule.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be
able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’
experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class-A CDL issued by the State of Georgia
for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
