Crew Leader, Landscape Maintenance

Position: Maintenance Crew Leader
Location: Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi
Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Overview:
The Maintenance Crew Leader will oversee and manage a team of landscaping professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to our ecological and sustainability standards. This is an active leadership role involves coordinating daily tasks, providing hands-on guidance, and maintaining residential and commercial landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management

  • Supervise a crew of 1–4 team members across daily maintenance routes.
  • Conduct morning briefings to assign tasks and set goals for the day.
  • Monitor crew performance and provide on-the-job coaching and support.
  • Address personnel issues and maintain a respectful team culture.

Quality Control

  • Inspect completed work and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Identify, document, and report on-site issues to management.

Training

  • Demonstrate proper use of all-electric tools and safe operating methods.
  • Keep the crew updated on evolving practices and safety protocols.

Safety Compliance

  • Enforce all safety procedures and ensure team compliance.
  • Conduct safety briefings and check that PPE is used appropriately.
  • Identify potential hazards on site and respond proactively.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Oversee the use, care, and storage of all tools and equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections and keep maintenance logs for tools and vehicles.
  • Schedule necessary repairs, replacements, or inventory restocks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of landscaping or groundskeeping experience.
  • At least 1 year of crew leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Valid Hawaiʻi driver’s license.
  • Able to lift 75 lbs and work in varied weather conditions.
  • Strong time management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn electric landscaping equipment.
  • Interest in native plant care, ecological landscaping, and sustainable land stewardship.
  • Flexibility to adapt in a startup environment with evolving systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of native Hawaiian and drought-tolerant plant species
  • Experience with organic or chemical-free maintenance practices

Work Environment

  • Physically active outdoor work in sun, rain, and varied terrain.
  • Use of quiet, zero-emission, all-electric tools and vehicles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
