The Alleghany Highlands Victim Witness Program is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Crime Victim Advocate to join our team! Position open until filled.

Position Summary:

The Crime Victim Advocate provides essential support and advocacy services to victims and witnesses of crime throughout the criminal justice process. This position works closely with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community partners to ensure that victims are informed, empowered, and treated with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist victims in understanding and navigating the criminal justice system
  • Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and referrals to local resources
  • Notify victims of court dates and accompany them to proceedings
  • Help with the completion of protective orders, compensation claims, and other relevant paperwork
  • Maintain detailed and confidential case documentation
  • Participate in case reviews, trainings, and community outreach events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred)
  • Prior experience in victim services, advocacy, or other human services field is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license

Position Details
