Criminal Defense Attorney

Portner & Shure is one of the leading criminal defense firms in Virginia. We are seeking a leading associate attorney to handle criminal cases and a busy workers' comp docket for our expanding Virginia practice. Must be able to work on multiple cases at different stages of the process.

Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in the General District Court / Circuit Court
• Represent clients in the VA Workers' Compensation Commission
• Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients

Qualifications:

• Experience in criminal defense
• Experience in workers compensation / personal injury
• Advise clients about their legal rights and options
• Conduct legal research and devise an effective strategy to defend the client(s) in court
• Gather evidence in support of the case
• Present evidence in court
• Negotiate settlement agreements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Must be licensed in Virginia
• Speak Spanish a plus but not required

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be proficient with handling a high volumes of cases
• Must be an active member and in good standing with the Virginia bar
• Must have a proven ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
• Must have excellent attention to detail, stellar organization skills and the ability to not only communicate well but to fully grasp real-life implications that these cases have on our clients
