We are currently looking for a Full Time Criminal Investigator to join our Office of Chief Counsel team located at the Carl Albert Service Center working .

Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for the investigation of crimes and alleged crimes within the Chickasaw Nation. Maintains confidential sources of informants and intelligence concerning criminal activity. Notifies the FBI/BIA of federal crimes and when necessary, provides assistance in investigations and expert advice on Indian culture, habits, and jurisdiction. Testifies before federal grand juries and local courts. Works with the Office of the U.S. Attorney and tribal prosecutor in and out of court. Independently initiates appropriate interaction with federal, state and local agencies to obtain information and/or assistance in accomplishing assignments.

  • Maintains confidential sources of informants and intelligence concerning criminal activity
  • Notifies the FBI/BIA of federal crimes and when necessary, provides assistance in investigations and expert advice on Indian culture, habits, and jurisdiction
  • Testifies before federal grand juries and local courts
  • Works with the Office of the U.S. Attorney, State and tribal prosecutors in and out of court
  • Independently initiates appropriate interaction with federal, state and local agencies to obtain information and/or assistance in accomplishing assignments
  • Prepares documentation and evidence for court
  • Ensures evidence is sent or taken to crime lab for analysis
  • Required to utilize the Protocol and Style Manual when preparing written and email correspondences
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Experience:
Essential:
  • 5 years directly related experience


Education:
Essential:
  • High School, GED or Equivalent

Nonessential:
  • Bachelors Degree in directly related field

Essential:
  • Must have completed a basic police officer certification course equivalent to the requirements set by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET)
Credentials:
Essential:
  • 40 hour CLEET instructor course
  • Standard Driver's License
  • Pass general background check
  • BIA Special Law Enforcement Commission
  • CN Core Leadership Level 1


Essential:
  • Must attend advanced training courses, which cover the following: Background Investigations and Adjudications, Basic Instructor Development, FBI – LEEDA Trilogy Courses, Criminal Investigator Training Program, etc.)
  • Must have and maintain a clean record with no convictions for felonies or qualifying misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence which would prohibit receipt or possession of firearms or ammunition, and misdemeanors in any jurisdiction that do not categorize serious crimes as felonies
  • Must continuously be able to pass a complete background investigation, maintain a Bureau of Indian Affairs commission upon assignment
  • Must have completed or be willing to attend the 8-week criminal investigator training program at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Must successfully complete training as a requirement to maintain employment
  • This position requires completion of level 1 CORE Leadership Training within 18 months of the hire or promotion date
