Ravenwood Health is hiring two full time jail therapists. One position will focus on crisis, case management and ongoing counseling for clients in the jail. The other position will focus on facilitating a mental health intensive group/ day treatment programming. Both positions will complete intakes and assessments and provide some individual counseling to clients in the jail.
Jail Therapist Job Duties:
- Assess and manage risk, adjust level of care, and provide recommendations for inmates as needed.
- Provide follow up assessment and therapeutic support as requested by inmates and jail staff.
- Provide ongoing counseling services to those with mental health and substance use concerns.
- Complete court-ordered mental health, violence risk, and substance use assessments as needed.
- Provide mental health group counseling
- Coordinate closely with jail staff to ensure physical and emotional safety for inmates.
- Coordinate with jail nursing staff for referrals to psychiatry and provide clinical information to psychiatrist as needed for medication adjustment requests.
- Coordinate care with other agencies and service providers in the jail.
- Provide referrals and link clients to services in the community upon their release.
- Complete and maintain clinical documentation within agency set timeframes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary clinical team meetings.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with professionals in the community and other agencies (Jails, Sheriff’s Department, hospital, courts, etc.) through verbal and written communication.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and work independently.
- Knowledge of risk issues and verbal de-escalation abilities, as well as consultation options.
- Ability to make decisions and mobilize resources quickly and effectively in an emergency
- Demonstrates professionalism with related professionals both inside/outside of the agency
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work
- Must have a valid Driver License
- Experience working with high acuity clients in mental health crisis
- Must be able to pass an FBI/BCI background check
- Active Ohio license/s:
- LSW: Licensed Social Worker
- MSW: Master Social Worker
- LISW: Licensed Independent Social Worker
- LPC: Licensed Professional Counselor
- LPCC: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
- SWT: Social Work Trainee
- CT: Counselor Trainee
