Overview
A Criminal Paralegal provides essential support to attorneys by managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating court schedules, and communicating with clients, courts, and prosecutors. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational habits and a solid understanding of criminal legal procedures. The role centers on two priorities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:General Expectations:
: Participate in legal admin meetings.
: Maintain professionalism, accountability, and positive engagement.
: Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and follow company values and standards.
: Remain open to new processes, training, and direction.
Case Management & Attorney Support:
: Maintain and manage a caseload typically exceeding 150 cases.
: Ensure attorneys have accurate and up-to-date calendars including court appearances, meetings, deadlines, and reminders.
: Draft pleadings, correspondence, discovery-related documents, and court filings.
: Summarize depositions, testimony, and interviews.
: Conduct legal research as needed.
: Scan, upload, and organize documents according to the firm’s file management system.
Client Communication:
: Return client calls and emails within 24 hours.
: Provide regular case updates and ensure clients understand next steps.
: Guide clients on submitting documents, reviewing discovery, and using client-facing systems such as Clio for Clients.
Court & Prosecutor Interaction:
: Communicate with courts regarding scheduling, court files, and adjournment requests.
: Submit discovery, equity packets, and documentation to District Attorney’s Offices.
: Draft and file Omnibus Motions.
: Prepare subpoenas and assist with trial prep.
: Coordinate expert witnesses, including obtaining opinions and scheduling appearances.
Qualifications:
: Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification preferred.
: Experience in a law firm as a paralegal or legal assistant.
: Strong understanding of legal procedures, terminology, and document drafting.
: High accuracy and attention to detail.
: Exceptional organization and time-management skills.
: Effective communication skills with clients and legal professionals.
: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
: Knowledge of professional and ethical standards in the legal field.
